The Power of Belief
When I began my career as an engineer designing computers, I fell in love with business. And not just business in general, but building and running companies. In particular, I wanted to lead a company. My dream was to be a CEO.
That goal in itself wasn’t necessarily good or bad; however my strong desire to be the CEO was definitely not helpful. I saw every encounter through the lens of “will this propel me or hold me back from my dream?”.
I’m reminded of these powerful, introspective lines from A Course in Miracles:
“What you wish is true for you. Nor is it possible that you can wish for something and lack faith that it is so. Wishing makes real, as surely as does will create.“ (T-24.V.1)
Behind every one of our wishes is a belief that it will bring us happiness. Yet it is our beliefs that are directly responsible for how we feel.
If we want to experience joy, it has nothing to do with engineering our lives in such a way that our wishes may come true. Rather, all we need to do is look at our beliefs – and if they aren’t aligned in such a way that inner peace naturally flows through us, then we simply need to change our beliefs.
