Tuning Fork
What’s it like being a tuning fork? That’s what we all are. Resonating at a specific pitch, emitting a pure tone. But unlike the two-pronged U-shaped version, we vibrate at one of two frequencies: conflict or peace.
Struck by the ego, our reverberations “sound” like anger, shame, worry, stress, lack, and sorrow. Not a very pleasant overture.
Touched by the divine frequency of love, we emit glorious notes of warmth, patience, generosity, laughter, stillness. Music that touches the soul.
We’re most often attuned to a sense of self with its accompanying thoughts of me-ness. Every emotion further proof of such identification. And thus our days are spent in the service of self. Attempting to lessen the me’s afflictions while seeking solace wherever it might be found.
But there’s another way. Another chord. Much richer. More natural. Sublimely serene. One in which, as described by A Course in Miracles, there’s no experience of fear, malice, or attack ... where each day is filled with happiness and peace.
How to achieve such synergy? Merely by becoming aware.
Aware of what? Of the fork itself. Of noticing, in any given moment, which frequency we’re producing. Not analyzing it. Not wrestling it into submission. Just recognizing, “Oh, I’m humming that one again.”
That gentle recognition, without judgment, is the entire shift. The moment we listen, truly listen, the ego’s mallet loses its grip. And then the deeper tones effortlessly sing through.
The divine frequency doesn’t compete for our attention. It simply waits, with infinite patience, for us to become aware. We’re built for this perfect resonance. Our job is to be openly receptive.
Join me in Thursday’s class where we’ll explore what it means to be a tuning fork for the universe, and how the gentlest act of noticing can change everything we sound. I look forward to seeing you then.
